Mysterious
Outage with MITBBS.COM

MITBBS, a
U.S. based forum with hundreds of
thousands of registered IDs, mostly Chinese, encountered a mysterious outage
starting midmorning on Jul 3, 2016, right in the middle of the Independent-Day
holiday. This unforeseen event is said to have interrupted thousands of ongoing
posting, chatting, arguing, photo benning, and B tearing, and rendered
numerous users “having nothing to do for a whole day”. Some are already in the process of building a new forum to replace MITBBS.
By end of the day, the total financial loss caused by this
disaster is estimated to be seven million dollars, including the prosperous
website commercials, as well as income earned by countless robots located
mostly in Langfang, Hebei, China. The journalist attempted to phone-interview
Mr. Xing, the said CEO of the corporation, but was told that “Mr. Universe CEO
is currently traveling on a Florida cruise with one of his waiters.”
By the time of the report, no organization or individual has
claimed to be responsible for the event. However, according to a famous ID
named Stefenkeng, “Since it occurred right after the dismissal of Provost Dai, we
believe that this was a planned protest to demonstrate the united power and
awakened political sense of Chinese Americans, especially those working in
academia.” Regardless of the motivation, we are certain that the outage has
attracted attention from the executive level at Temple University. However, Xing's spokesman said this was most likely an attack from an angry spouse who simply wanted a true vacation with the web-addicted partner. Some even predicted that the outage might have saved dozens of near-broken marriages.
“Ni-ma
when will mai-ti come back to work?” We heard you, WSNs! Hopefully the issue can be resolved soon!
(Note: this is a made-up news by me during the time when "there was nothing to do", if you haven't figured out.)
